What is KVPY ?

KVPY stands for 'Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana'
It is the national level scholarship program in the field of Basic Sciences conducted by IISc Bangalore every year and funded by DST (Department of Science and Technology, India)

What is Eligibility Criteria for KVPY 2020?

All science students of class11, class12 and Under Graduation course are eligible for KVPY2020 if they want to continue their higher education in India.
The eligibility is as follow- 

KVPY Stream SA for Class 11

Students must fulfil the following eligibility criteria to be able to apply for the KVPY Fellowship programme:

  • Pursuing 11 th Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2020-21
  • Minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in Class 10 th Board exams
  • The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (BSc/BS/BStat/BMath/Integrated MSc/Integrated MS) after having secured a minimum of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in Class 12 th exams.
  • During the interim period of one year, they will be invited for the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.

KVPY Stream SX for Class 12

  • Enrolled in 12th Standard/ (+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year 2020-21
  • They should be aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to BSc/BS/BStat/BMath/Integrated MSc/Integrated MS for the session 2020–21.
  • They must have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in 10th exams and a minimum of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in 12th exams.
  • Students in their 2nd year in Cambridge International Examination Board and aspiring to join a UG programme (viz. BSc/BS/BStat/BMath/Integrated MSc/Integrated MS) in Basic Sciences namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
    Such students must fulfil the below-mentioned criteria:
    a) Secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in Class 11.
    b) Secured 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in Class 12 Board exams before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

KVPY Stream SB for UG (Undergraduate)

  • Students must be in the 1st year of UG programme in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to BSc/BS/BStat/BMath/Integrated MSc/Integrated MS
  • Secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in Class 12 Board Examination
  • In the first year of BSc/BS/BMath/BStat/Integrated MSc/Integrated MS, students must have secured 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

What is the Selection Procedure for KVPY2020?

  • Stage 1: Aptitude Test
  • Stage 2: Personal Interview

Aptitude Test

All the candidates who are eligibile are called to appear for the KVPY Aptitude Test which is conducted in both Hindi and English languages at different exam centres across the country. The KVPY aptitude test contains questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Interview

Basis the candidate's performance in the aptitude test, all the shortlisted candidates are called to appear for a round of interview which is the final stage of the selection process.

This year, no interviews will be conducted and the scholarship will solely be based on the aptitude test due to covid-19.
