CLASS7 SCIENCE CHAPTER10 (RESPIRATION) NOTES

What is Respiration???
Respiration is the essential process in organism by which they can release stored energy from food. We need energy for every activity in life, like- walking, running, thinking, jumping, reading and even when sleeping.

What is cellular respiration?
The process of breakdown of food in the cells of an organism and release of the energy is called cellular respiration. Cellular respiration takes place in the cells of all organisms.

Type of Respiration-

(i) Aerobic Respiration - When the food(glucose) is breakdown in cell in the presence of oxygen, it is called aerobic respiration.
During aerobic respiration carbon dioxide, water is formed along with the release of Energy.

(i) Anaerobic Respiration- In this respiration food is break down in the absence of Oxygen.
Some organism such as Yeast respire in the absence of Oxygen, these organisms are called "anaerobes".
During anaerobic respiration Glucose is break down in alcohol, Carbon dioxide and Energy.
Q. Why yeasts are used in Wine Industries?
Ans. Yeasts respire anaerobically and due to this alcohol is formed. that's why these are used in wine industries.
